February!

Hi friends! This will be our last post on Substack - we are transitioning our newsletter to Ghost, and you can find us at https://mediaarchaeologylab.ghost.io. If you're receiving this in your email - you don't need to do anything, you're already added to the new list! Otherwise - please consider subscribing to our newsletter on our new host.
Just a few newsbits!
First: Our Other Networks pop-up exhibition opened on the last day of January!

It was a great success, much Tetris was played, and this exhibit will be open through the end of Spring semester.
Stop by CASE W250 on the CU Boulder campus and take a break from the internet – we have functioning Minitels, a single line telephone circuit, One Laptop Per Child mesh network, CB radio and various other kinds of radios, videophones, and a gaming corner. Coming soon: four connected NABU computers! You can find events & open hours here.
Second: The first event associated with the Other Networks pop-up is titled Breaking Up with Big Social! Give yourself a Valentine's present - come by our Open Social Media skillshare.

Drop in on Friday February 14th, 11 am - 1 pm in CASE W25o.
Third: There is still time to get your t-shirt preorder in! Visit the form here: https://forms.gle/viNjaM1qY3SiFPbr8 - orders close on February 28!

Finally,
As we type, MAL Director Lori Emerson is traveling to CERN in Geneva, Switzerland to facilitate a live, public conversation with key members of the team that created and maintained the World Wide Web for the first five years of its existence. The conversation is part of the ECREA Communication History Workshop “Communication Networks Before and After the Web.”
And, in January MAL Pal Spike took part in ShmooCon, representing the lab with an ad-hoc Badge Life mini museum. He also took part in the annual Hackers on the Hill gathering.
More soon - thanks as always for your support!
